I have been doing this for a very long time. I have had hundreds upon hundreds of people on my embalming table over the years. I have glimpsed visions of happier times in life, and I have seen the darkest places of the human heart.
But, there is something about Barrett Conrad that is different from any other person I’ve had on my table. He “feels’ different somehow, and I don’t even know myself what that means. There is a feeling of black magic that surrounds him. I get the sense that Barrett Conrad had dabbled in a lot of things and stumbled onto something. But, this man on my table feels like an empty husk, like a Barrett Conrad-lookalike that was never really Barrett Conrad at all. It’s a strange feeling, this one.
Oh, and there is one other thing that’s odd about this one. It seems that Barrett Conrad was trying his hand at being a horror writer. He even wrote a story that mimics my own story and life. It’s a book called ‘Puzzles of Flesh’ that talks about a coroner who metaphorically pieces the dead back together from all the details he is able to glean from them about their lives. Interesting concept, that. I’ve given the first sheet of the manuscript to my intern for analysis.
Here are some snippets of the truth that the dead man gave to me. I don't know exactly what they all mean. Maybe you can figure it out.
What a tangled web we weave...
This should be one of the first things you attempt to do.
It's a puzzle, indeed!
The eyes hold the key.
I got a partial vision while holding the victim's wallet. I sent the first part to my intern.
Here is the other second part of the vision. They go together I think.

I don't know what the dead man means by this, but he says the secret is kept here that will make everything clear.
Here is what I saw through the dead man's eyes. This footage goes right up to the last few moments in the video that Barrett Conrad was killed with that knife and bled out. Those actors who aren't represented after that couldn't possibly be the killer.
